Re: MK Plugs and their various designs.
There was a company called 'HH' who made professional audio amplifiers, I think. They also made the HH Tiger microcomputer, which is how I came across them.

Re: MK Plugs and their various designs.
OTOH, new-in-box ones are collectable as such. I'd keep them in the box and install used / unboxed examples in the workshop. They's still good sockets, hardly anything on the market now can match them for contact performance.

Re: MK Plugs and their various designs.
I wonder how many of us, on first seeing that rather odd looking cable clamp that MK uses, were a bit suspicious of it?

Re: MK Plugs and their various designs.
I'm still a bit supicious of it. Very thin, fig-8 flexes aren't gripped very well, and thin round ones can be twisted, straining the connections.
A vast improvement over the card "saddle clamps" though. |

Yes, if they weren't that design, these plugs would be perfect

Re: MK Plugs and their various designs.
Single insulated figure 8 mains flex should be a thing of the past (he said looking guiltily at the table lamp beside him).
You can't expect to restore vintage radios without vintage electricity.

I have also found some NOS regular sockets with scratches on them that were even cheaper. |

Re: MK Plugs and their various designs.
From the top:
Switched MKs in brown and ivory, and a relatively modern equivalent with neon by WG, Toughplug with non-standard reduced earth pin; MKs branded 'WMG' (West Midlands Gas?) and 'BBC', Plug by PMS with full NSAI and BSI approval details on cap; BICC low-profile plugs branded 'SWEBLINE' and 'emelec', both sadly faded, MB branded 'PO', Marbo branded ''NEEB'. |

Re: MK Plugs and their various designs.
I've just realised that I've got a Volex Temco plug, and it's branded Manweb, for Merseyside and North Wales electricity board , any more brands would be nice to see
