Sony TC-366 run cap
Changing the original one out for a single 2uf because I can`t find a 1.5uf + 0.5 uf . Whats the rules on wiring in a single 2uf and getting rid of the switch which wires do I use ? Do I just remove the switch wires and then use the 2 + wires together and the - on the other side ?

Re: Sony Tc-366 run cap
Looking at the schematic, remove the old capacitor and replace the right hand one in the schematic with the 2uF, you don't have to bother with the switch:

Re: Sony TC-366 run cap
No worries, these were a popular machine back in the day, serviced a fair few when I worked for Sony back then.

Re: Sony TC-366 run cap
I`ve done 3 in the last month but I normally put a separate 1.5 and 0.5 caps in and then it occurred to me I didn't really need too . lol . I`ve just re-capped , cleaned , oiled , etc etc etc . Its looking peachy .

Re: Sony TC-366 run cap
I liked these machines, I left Sony not that long after the TC-377 came out, a ferrite head job, the most popular by far though for the average punter back then where I was based was the TC-630, I serviced lots of them, forgotten most of it now....

Re: Sony TC-366 run cap
I think Sony`s are my favourite to buy cheap , spend a LOT of effort making them nice and then selling them on for a fair price , they are a challenge to recap so they definitely keep your eye in so to speak . Once they are cleaned , re-capped and calibrated , they sound amazing . I could do nothing but these really . I just love them .
