Cine to CD conversion
Not sure if this is the right place to ask (or even the right forum). Can one transfer cine film to CD or is the equipment so expensive that only professional companies can do it?

Re: Cine to CD conversion
Surprisingly good results can be obtained using just a projector and camera. I have one of those preview rear-projection screens, which works well, but a strightforward mirror should be OK - just watch out for 'hot spots' due to an incorrectly set up lamp / condenser.

I've used a similar method projecting the image onto an A4 sheet of white paper. with the camcorder next to the projector. I found it best to disable the auto focus and focus manually to get the best picture. There's a small amount of flicker on the finished video which may or may not be objectionable.

It also helps if your camera has slow shutter selections otherwise you can get flicker problems.
