you got it andrew,hit the nail on the head so as to speak,so its just sommat to generate an acurat dc voltage then is it?your right on the bradley meter btw.should of kept it to one post,but i was confused,cheers m3vuv.

I think point made by Kellys Eye is an interesting one - when is AC AC and when is DC DC? Is a DC voltage varying sinusoidally AC or DC? Maybe the answer's easy, but it's also puzzled me. But maybe a bit OT.

We can regard 'DC' as 'AC' where the frequency is zero Hz.

When I worked for UKAEA, we were allowed to borrow kit for home use. For some unknown reason, power supplies were excluded. The simple work-around was to list a PSU as a 'DC signal generator'. This kept the admin chaps happy and allowed us to borrow PSUs!
