G6 Philips.
Please anyone, just to sort an argument in my local.
The G6 had, as far as I remember a valve in the set that was not in the series heater chain. and it's not a trick question, it wasnt the GY501 or the PD500 or even the CRT It was in the decoder I seem to remember, and removing it disabled the colour killer, or has my mind gone low emission. a double triode rings a bell. Thanks all, tony walker |

Re: G6 Philips.
ta, thought you may have the answer, i drink regularly with two ex tv engineers in accrington, and we talk each other to death re old gear, sad but true, and something seemed familiar, you aided me a while ago re. decca radiogrammes.
thanks again, tony walker as an aside, we are big in manchester and when we came here 2 years ago thought that would be no shortage of people to join us, how wrong we were, all plasma and ccfl and led now. no tv engineers left, see you tony walker |

Re: G6 Philips.
Certainly this is true with the single standard version. Not with the original dual standard version which had V7003 in the main heater chain.
Incidentally the original dual standard had an additional PCC85 (V7004) which functioned as the A). Auto White (which activated a relay on the CRT base to provide a blue tinge to 405 and B&W 625 transmissions to resemble a B&W set!) and B). CRT Protection, designed to prevent a damaging white line on the screen in the event of frame or line collapse. Cheers, Brian |

Re: G6 Philips.
Hi Brian
I have the service manual for the G6/DS (dated 1967) but I am missing the original circuit diagram. Do you or anyone have a Hi-Res scan of the original G6/DS circuits I can put on the website? OR can someone confirm if the circuits I have posted on this page are the full Monty? http://www.philipstv.org.uk/blog/ear...6-electronics/ Kind regards Robert |

Re: G6 Philips.
Hi Robert,
I can confirm your circuit is indeed the original dual standard. The reproduction in "Radio & Television Servicing 1967-1968" is the best I have which is comprehensive. Good reproductions were also included in "Television" magazine articles in I think were 1973 (Caleb Bradley) and 1975 (Les Lawry-Johns). The single standard G6 was covered in "Radio & Television Servicing 1970-1971". Again a fully comprehensive circuit is included. The uploads show the differences between the two as regards to V7003 and V7004, the latter deleted in the single standard version. Cheers, Brian Last edited by Focus Diode; 16th Aug 2013 at 11:49 am.
