Same here. Never saw a G8, only the G11. Must have been super reliable.

They were the run-out model so had all the mods done - contrast that with the Pye hybrid which got worse as production went on! They were also fairly thin on the ground unlike the ubiquitous 22" 550.
The Pye solid state 20" was nothing special but having a 90 degree CRT (A51-220X) was far more reliable than their big brothers. Again, thin on the ground as a few extra pounds bought you a 22" version.
I vaguely remember a 20" T20 now you mention it - it was the first one I saw with the unusual final anode location.

Thanks to Mickey 66 I have the correct value 3rd harmonic tuning caps to replace the now unreliable green type originally fitted.
I have set up the line timebase output balance and all is quiet and cool. These green capacitors were also used in the GEC solid state chassis and maybe discovered in Thorn 8000/9000 series. When they go O/C they destroy the line output transistor and can also damage the tube. Replace on sight!
Thanks M. Regards, John.

Remember them well. Rediffusion, Redihire bought loads of these for rental and sale. Always worked first time out of the box and virtually no setting up unlike some other manufacturers models. And always gave a superb picture.
