Default Harpenden Swapmeet 7th March.

I've looked at the calender and in the Bulletin, but can't see if there is going to be an auction on Sunday or just a talk.

Does anyone know? If there is going to be an auction, would anyone know the expected start time?

Many thanks

graham

Hi Graham,

I'm sure there will be a mini-auction, as there invariably is. Start time 13:30, as I recall.

It's a regular swapmeet with a mini-auction tacked on at the end.

With a talk given by Iain Baird, grandson of JLB and Curator of Television at the National Media Musuem. Talk starts at 12 noon. (Shameless plug)

... to which I am very much looking forward - the factor which tipped the balance in favour of me heading down from the frozen north for a Harpenden swapmeet.

I have a funny feeling we'll have to install a 2nd tier of seating in the small hall.

Can anyone confirm that a BVWS member is permitted to bring along one guest to this event?

AFAIK this is still allowed. They still have to pay the £3 entrance fee. The guest cannot buy or sell at the mini-auction since this is linked to membership number. The guest facility is primarily aimed at partners etc. If somebody is interested in their own right and wants to participate regularly then they ought to join. There is no problem joining the BVWS at the meeting.

Thanks for the quick reply Jeffrey.

That was my understanding also.

I was just thinking that my Dad might be perhaps be interested in the talk by Iain Baird.

It is likely to be a one off attendance, if at all.

It was good to meet up with lots of friends, new and old. We should make more of an effort to wear badges with our forum names. I forgot my penguin badge this time

Yes, another excellent and most enjoyable meeting. The talk by Iain Baird in particular was very interesting. Thanks to the team for all the hard work in making a cracking event.
Quite surprising how cheap some good sets were going in the auction though, a sign of the current (no pun intended!) times.
