Yes, that must be it. We had one at home in the Seventies. I was looking for a list of local codes for London and for the Brighton area.

A few pages from the 1973 London booklet that I found earlier.

Hope this helps,

Roy

Thank you, Roy...

I really appreciate that. It was just what I was after. Now I'm just after those local codes for the Brighton area.

I wonder if this is what you are referring to, this is London 01 numbers 1985 and is approximately A5. Called "The Code Book".

That cover rings bells - it looks like a version of what I was looking for for the BT era. I now have the details of the London local codes that I was looking for thanks to roy's kindness.

Hello,

I have one here from 1975, it's yours if you want it...

BT Archives have a lot of historic (older than 30yrs) records.
"We are open to the public throughout the year on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 am - 4 pm. An appointment is essential to ensure access to the building, and to reserve a study desk."

They will have Directories, leaflets, diagrams. Any historic documents to do with UK telephone service,

The booklet was called 'Dialing code book'

There used to be clause somewhere in the book to the effect of: "only the codes in this book may be dialled"
