Re: Capacitor Polarity?
Normal electrolytic capacitors sometimes bulge before they explode.

Re: Capacitor Polarity?
Glad that I can be the source of so much amusement . What I was trying to make a point of is that a Tantalum sometimes lives up to its Tantalus the villain name (Greek myth) by quietly working away then without warning by getting warm and/or smelly or bulging or slowly drawing extra current from the supply rails will suddenly explode with a fiery flash. I have seen it while working on the surgical laser equipment that I service, and not because of something I have done to provoke a fault.

Re: Capacitor Polarity?
I wouldn’t worry too much about it Geoff, at least you’ve assisted in your posts. You often find in life that those that take the pout of others do it because they have their own personal problems/inadequacies.
