What would be the most reliable VHS machine?
My sister has a large collection of VHS and is looking for a reliable replacement for and older machine now discarded.

I have a professional Panasonic SVHS player. Huge thing. I'd say that it'd be pretty much the best you can get nowadays. Type number fails me...

Yes, often known as the "Industrial" series.
The older ones, with no HiFi sound, often go for peanuts, though you have to watch out for machines that are well-worn. Nick. |

Re: What would be the most reliable VHS machine?
Despite working for them I think the LG 888 ones took some beating, I admit I may be slightly biassed but we got very few under warranty ones back, and we sold thousands over the years. Apart from the cassette detection switch and the belt from the capstan to the rr\ff they were very reliable. And the very occasional guide entry and exit post going out of sync with each other we liked them a lot.

Re: What would be the most reliable VHS machine?
A late 90s Panasonic (NV-HD630 or similar) would be my choice. Or maybe a Sony (SLV-SE70, SLV-E720, SLV-E80 or similar).
A lot depends on whether the original machine was stereo or mono.

Re: What would be the most reliable VHS machine?
Hi,
Bit late now, but I had one of these - and sent it back. There was a high-pitched whine from the VHS part that drove me mad! Michael |
