Is the player and deck on a level surface?
If the cartridge has 4 pins and only 2 were connected then the person who allegedly refurbished this player has not done it correctly.
If the cartridge only has 2 pins then only the 2 wires are connected but if it has 4 pins then all 4 wires MUST be connected and alterations to the wiring under the deck made in order to join both the left and right music channels into a mono signal.
It the moment it would only be playing half the music on the record grove.

The person who sold this should refund you if you contact them.
Failing that if bought via ebay then I suggest you make a claim immediately as you only have a limited time to claim for faulty goods.
If not bought via ebay and you used paypal then you should be able to claim via paypal.

There are too many persons out there who are not technically experienced in this task.
They need to be caught out and stopped.

Good luck
Mike

Yes on level floor on legs at the moment.

Definitely delivered with only black and red connected to a four pin cartridge.

Sound is good in general basically when quite literally a fingertip is placed on the deck.

The seller responded earlier and asked me to take out and put back the stylus as it could be that?

Highly unlikely that removing and replacing the stylus make any difference at all. I suspect your seller has little experience of these.

Thanks all for your help, I only received this on Wednesday last week via Ebay and PayPal so well in time for returning.

Although how to go and buy packaging and if couriers are going to be working soon is another matter entirely.

Without wishing to induce closure of this thread I would pursue for a full refund...

EDIT: Whoops...I missed the previous post.

Lawrence.

Let's not have any further discussion about an eBay seller who can easily be identified.

Thank you for your cooperation.

In one of your posts you mention the black wire is loose, pull it right off the cartridge pin, then with your fingers give it a nip then slip it back on the cartridge pin and see if it's tighter on the pin.
