Default 1980s Tatung system 45 remote control

Hi,

Does anybody have any information on what remote control my 22” Tatung system 45 tv uses, I couldn’t find a model number for the tv but the sticker inside says it’s a tv9419 (I’ve attached pictures of the set and the sticker)

My set is subject to a makeover, it use to have a black facia and rosewood cabinet however it looked shabby and needed refinishing so I thought why not change it up.

Thanks

At a guess, it uses a 170 series chassis. I always found the universal RCs worked well for these.

Many of these Tatung 170 series sets were branded as GEC after the company ended production at the joint venture Hitachi-GEC Hirwaun works.

hi, if its a tv9419 then the second number in the model name is the chassis type . so its a 140 series . the t means its tatung brand if it was dv9419 it would be the decca version .likewise 1051 is 100 series 842 is 80 series 701 is 70 series . hope that helps the remote for that is a rc45 from memory ,best try wiltsgrove, or any of its asssociated companies

That's impressive. I knew there was an article in Television which mentioned decoding the Decca/Tatung model numbers (the one about the 160 chassis?) but I'd forgotten the details.

Note that Wiltsgrove seem to have had problems and that people were wary of ordering from them not long ago - see thread(s) on this forum.

hi, yes when it was decca radio and tv the models were usually cv with the first two numbers being the chassis type ie cv1051 being 100 series and the last numbers telling us if was a remote version ie cv1061 . but after the tatung takeover they rejigged it a bit the first letters told us if it was decca or tatung dv or tv then if it was remote 9 or manual 1 then the chassis type 4 for 140 series the rest just being variants of the model .this carried on until the a,b,c d,e, series of sets . etc. have been retired for over a year now but been in tv trade since 1962 and self employed since 1974so memory not quite as good as it used to be. got the decca tv agency in the early 70,s and was always happy with the sets and service .we ended up one of the three largest decca dealers in the north

Not had any problems with Wiltsgrove recently, I'm pleased to say.
Tatung were quite nice sets to work on, but later down the alphabet they started to be a bit more trouble than I'd like, and quite difficult to service unlike the 120-40-60 series.
