Default BVWS Committee Changes

For those not at Harpenden today, at the AGM:

Mike Barker resigned as Chairman and from the committee.

Greg Hewitt was appointed to the role of Chairman.

Jeremy Day was appointed to the role of Treasurer (a role he previously held until 3 years ago) in addition to his existing role as Vice Chairman.

All other committee roles are unchanged.

The new Chairman and committee, along with those present at the AGM, thanked Mike for his many years of service to the BVWS committee - 18 as Chairman and over 20 on the committee.

The BVWS website will be updated to reflect these changes tomorrow morning, and an announcement will appear in the next Bulletin (which will be sent for printing very soon).

I forgot to mention, Mike will be continuing to organise and run the auctions as now, and organise the RWB events.

Unfortunately I could not make Harpy today.

I also would like to thank Mike.

His Chairmanship has resided over so many positive changes.

He has worked tirelessly to promote the aims of the society.

He brought stability with his long and successful chairmanship.

I wish Gregg all the best Mike will be a tough act to follow

Cheers

Mike T

I'd also like to thank Mike for his patience and help with some of my transformer problems. I've only been a member for a couple of years but had met mike at Audiojumbles prior to that.
Wishing you the best Mike and hoping you enjoy your new found liberation.

IRC Mike made his intentions clear quite a while back, giving the BVWS time to arrange another Chairman. I believe he has done an excellent job for the BVWS for many years. I hope it will give Mike more time to enjoy our hobby. Thank you Mike.

May I add my heartfelt thanks for all the years of service as chairman that Mike has given us - and my best wishes to Greg as he takes over the reins.

Having being carefully selected, I'm sure the new Chairman will do an excellent job but in the broader sense, Mike will always be a hard act to follow-probaly one of those "plate spinning" ones from a "variety" show as he has tried so hard to apply his enormous enthusiasm to everything he does, in particular for the Society and it's members.

Best wishes to all,

Dave W

Yes, Mike will have a few less plates to keep spinning now!

Although this was announced yesterday and came as a surprise to the membership, it was obviously discussed and agreed by the committee members involved over several weeks before. Everyone at the committee table knew what was going to happen.

Greg is an excellent choice and the right person to lead the society forward. He has the full support and backing of the whole committee.
