Default Museum of Nostalgia

Not sure if this place has ever been mentioned before on this forum, but it does have items of interest to us in its collection.
This weekend is the last dates for opening this year.

Here is someones review and some details.

Plus two more September – 22nd/23rd and October – 6th/7th. I might take a train day* and have a look.

*this will take a day return!

A refreshing change from most museums where the art of presentation vastly overfaces the items being presented... you know, vast white spaces, large expensive display cabinets and very little of what you came to see.

Here here, I can forgive the Design Museum for that (it's what they are about after all, the building itself if empty would be worth the visit). A lot these days seem to be "art" galleries with endless text rather than artefacts.

I am told a lot of people go to such museums and come away thinking 'I used to have one of those'. I go to such museums and come away thinking 'I was using one of those yesterday'

It's a lot more of a blow to go to a museum and find in it some of the actual things you used to use and a couple of things you designed!

Well in my case "A Thing" rather than things in the science museum and I was just a member of a team. It's in the information age exhibition and it looks just like the day I left the project in 1978 althouh missing its PTD.

I went there with my eldest son in 2014 and there it was.........

A bit of a shock to be honest!

Has that much of my life really passed me by

Cheers

Kevin, must be 30 to 40 years since I was last there. Is it still there? I remember buying chimney pots, but was it Les or a relative nearby? Memory!

Looks rather like some of the places I've visited in rural France, perhaps less cobwebby!

Well I went there today after reading this and it was closed. Phoned and left a voicemail, no call back. Most disappointed, waste of a day.

Same here - took two friends along only to be greeted by a locked door and I'd checked their website before we left
