Talking HMV 5B Sound Box Spares

Hi Troops
Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

This is the longest of long shots....

I've bought a HMV 5B Soundbox, but the tiny screw that hold the needle has been sheered off. I've got the old bit out but....

Would you have any idea where I might pick up another??

Thanks
Guys
Glen

Have a word with 'Soundgen' (Mike Child) on ebay or on the forum he frequents.

Good luck!

I know he's had a variety of sound box screws for sale at different times in the past, although the 5b is a very popular sound box, so there's likely to be a lot needing screws out there - supply and demand, and all that. If you don't get a reply from him then I would advise phoning him - there's a phone number for him out there on the 'net.

Hi Techman, no word yet. Would you have any other contact details for him?
Cheers
Glen

It seems foolish to mention it, given that if it were true I might have expected someone else to have said this already - but isn’t this screw likely to be a small BA size in a UK ‘thing’? I have quite a few BA sizes which might get you going if we can identify the one which applies.

Hi Glen, I'm quite local, if you can measure the diameter of the screw recess by trying small drills in them, I may be able to find you something

Hi Glen as well as small metric and BA I have a set of taps so it would be possible to fit a standard screw that can be more easily obtained
