Default Weltron 2004 Idler Tyre

Hi.

I have a Weltron 2004 with a cassette player that’s not working the problem being the idler tyre has disintegrated I’m just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a replacement or have managed to do a workaround with something else to replace it?

Sorry about the poor quality of the photograph I’m going to strip it down over the weekend hopefully I can take some measurements get a rough idea what I need.

P.S I have a friends Weltron 2007 with the exact same problem.

An O ring should do it, just pick the cord size and the diameter. It will cost you pence.

Hi
I’m afraid a o ring won’t fit on there is no groove for it to sitting it looks like the original rubber went around it
I found a name on the side it’s Tanashin
I’ve added a better photograph

Which wheel are you referring to as the idler?

Is that not just deposited rubber on the spool drive wheel?

Not that it helps much, but Tanshin are, or were, a major manufacturer of Cassette Mechanisms for domestic and car stereos, etc., so this mech. may well have been used in many other portable sets.

Pop it in a lathe and turn a groove then, it looks like soft plastic so it should be easy to do.

Or get a square section O ring and glue it on.

Hi
I’ve added another photo of the little devil know that it’s out of the mechanism
It measures 12 mm in diameter it actually sits inside the rubber tyre itself
Going off the mark that has been left I would reckon it’s about 1 mm thickness it must be a common fault with this mechanism as i’ve been contacted by several people wanting to know if I’ve got a cure for it
I think i’ll be looking at the o ring solution

It looks like the O ring sits against a shoulder, so you probably won't need a groove.
