Certainly looks similar to the 1622 for which I've got data.

It has a 10" speaker and push-pull output, so it should sound nice

Thumbs up Re: Hmv 1620?????

thanks Nickthedentist,

i purchased/rescued it from a charity shop in Sommerset. It was a total impulse buy! the man in the shop said the turn table revolves very slowly, but the radio works.

As i am a total novice at vintage radio repair any info i can get from anyone will be gratefully received.

Thanks again

I didn't think charity shops were allowed to sell electrical items unless they had been safety tested. Thank goodness a few still do and trading standards haven't clamped down on them. But I have seen some electrical stuff on sale that I wouldn't have liked to have seen bought by anyone who didn't know how to make it safe. I suppose the rules are there for a good reason. If it was your granny/child/aunt who got hurt by some faulty kit from a charity shop you might not be too happy.

I have a 1621. which looks identical to the one in your photo. I know nothing about it. It all works but is very quite with bad distortion if I attempt to turn it up. Should the speaker output be 3 pin (push pull). If it is I think mine has been rewired. Any info would be great, they dont seem to exist on the web. Also how much would this be worth if it was in perfect condition.
ps. is there a way of telling if the auto changer has been replaced?
