Default 1 valve VHF receiver

I have the uncontrollable urge to build a 1 or 2 valve VHF receiver using easily obtainable parts. Can anyone recommend a suitable schematic?
I am not too bothered about it being high or low voltage, just easy to get the necessary parts. Thanks, Martin.
