Default The function selector from my Sony TC 377 is blocked.

Hello,
I am not using my vintage Sony TC 377 recorder nog ver often.
Now occured the problem that the function selector is blocked.
I cannot move this total to the right or left.
I removed the front panel but I cannot see where the blocking is occurring.
Is there somebody who is able to help me out?

Hi. Have you got a tape threaded ?
The knob won't turn fully unless the end of tape lever is raised.
It's the steel rod lever at the left of the head block.

David.

The control knob will still turn if no tape is loaded but will immediately spring back to the stop position

The mechanism can seize due to buildup / hardening of grease. It's best to strip it down and clean the old stuff out (grey/black) and lightly re-grease after cleaning.

A video I found useful was: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSBEmVRSRxA&t=2606s

If it is anything like the TC270 there will be linkages stiff with hardened grease. I made a pictorial guide on how to go about servicing it, that ought to be on here somewhere. It was fiddly, but if you have an aptitude for such work , do-able.
