Default Roberts RT1

Hi I managed to restore the Roberts RT1 radio (it works well), but it is noisy in operation as it crackles sometimes for a short time, and sometimes for longer, but not on stronger stations. It is noticeable on long wave. Any ideas?
Cheers
Mike

The crackling noise (which appears on both long and medium wave bands) is not a permanent thing. I tuned in this morning and it had gone (strange). Wonder if it is external interference?

Hi Mike, It could be a heater thermostat, like an Iron or central heating. maybe next door?

John.
