KB Gavotte table top radio. (Actually a KB Tango).
Hi
Many years ago my grandad had a KB Gavotte which I believe was all transistor. I recently bought one from Ebay and when it arrived it was all valve. Is it me and a bad memory or were there different models of the same set? There was a KB shop on Hinckley Road in Leicester I used to stare longingly at the radio display (things I couldn't afford) but I'm sure they were all transistor. This old set used to receive Caroline etc so well it was very sensitive/selective. Does anyone on here know the set? Regards Jon |

Re: KB Gavotte table top radio
Interesting design feature, the KB Gavotte (RB10) uses rectified AC and HT/reservoir ripple plus shunt resistor current for the valves series heater chain of 150mA.

Re: KB Gavotte table top radio
Are you thinking of the KB TR11 "Tango", it was a battery powered table transistor radio in the same case as the Gavotte, quite a rare set, they don't come up very often.

Hi Jon.
I have seen a transistor version of the K.B RB10 radio at a radio sale many years ago. also I am sure that it had an orange coloured cabinet. Cheers Mike |

The only two KB Tango radios I have seen, have been two-tone in blue/grey and cream. KB used many terms associated with music for the names of their models. Nocturne, Gavotte, Minuet, Rhapsody, Interlude, Barcarolle, Intermezzo, Rhythm, Calypso, Carioca, Polonaise, Prima Ballerina, Starlight Serenade, Lyric, and Sonata, are all KB models, and a couple of other more abstract names.
