Re: What test equipment do you own/use
First, a confession: I have a passion for "classic" test equipment which is generally beautifully made &/or constructed
Secondly, I do like to measure stuff accurately, hence a modest collection of things which look a bit specialist / obscure. Commentary on colour items at end. Oscilloscopes Tektronix 453 (2 off, one with TV trig option) Tektronix 454 HP 1740A with TV clamp option RF Signal Generators HP 8640A 1024MHz. Megumo MSG2570 AM/FM Sig Gen AF Signal Generators Gould Advance J3B low-distortion 10Hz-100kHz Black Star “Jupiter 500” Function generator 0.1Hz –500kHz Spectrum analysers HP8560A with TG (2.9GHz). HP3561A Dynamic signal analyser (FFT) 100kHz. Time-domain reflectometers Tektronix 1502 (Ni-Cd battery/mains) Multimeters etc (analogue) Avo 40. Unigor 3S Meggers (2 versions, 500V) Multimeters (digital) Simpson type 464 desk-top DVM (mains/internal NiCd) Solitron 7150+ 6-digit DVM (mains) Precision Gold N56FU rms + USB LCR Bridges Tektronix Type 130 L-C meter (valve) ESI 251 4-terminal Power supplies Solatron AS1411-2 0-40v/2A Various bench-top High-voltage stuff DC probe (home-made) 1000:1, c. 860 MΩ, 10kV, 0.1% AC probe Tektronix P6015 25kV VG Electronics 0 – 2.5kV PSU (2mA!) Counters Racal Dana 1998 RF counter 1.3GHz HP5302 Universal counter The Tek 453 is a marvel of analogue electro-mechanical design. These date from c 1970, and still going strong. All transistors are mounted in sockets. The Tek 1502 is just the sweetest thing Tek ever made...... Unigor 3S. Recent acquisition. Made in Austria. V accurate: measures AC volts to 40kHz. Solatron PSU. Recent restoration. Linear programmable PSU from the 70's. If you measure the O/P voltage off-load, then connect a 1A load, the O/P remains steady to within 1mV Levell Insulation Tester. Recent acquisition/restoration. Runs off a 9V PP9 battery. Great for measuring HV capacitors (leakage etc) Datron 1071. What can I say? Datron were taken over by Fluke: if you use one of these, you'll understand why. British made & designed, another miracle. Fully-floating 4 terminal input, you can directly & accurately measure (in circuit) the INPUT OFFSET voltage of a MOSFET op-amp.... |

Re: What test equipment do you own/use
Most of my work is development and repair of modern stuff, micro processor (pic) programming etc. As such I dont have half the specialist kit most of you guys have.
As for what I do have; Multimeters - Fluke 75 Tenma 72-7760 (rs232 enabled) AVO-8 MK5 Oscilloscopes - Tek TDS220 LCD storage scope Velleman HPS40 LCD storage scope Telequipment Serviscope Minor (for nostagia only ) Power Supplies - Farnell LT30/2 (2x30v @2A) Home made 30V 1A Home made 25kV Soldering - Farnell analogue temperature controlled station Antex XS25 Iroda Solderpro 120 (gas). Miscelaneous - Farnell signal generator (up to 2MHz). Metrix GE8115 Diff-probe up to 1.5kV. Home made L-C meter. Thats all I can think of without going upstairs and having a look Dave. |

Re: What test equipment do you own/use
I've been lucky in that I've been able to buy decommissioned RF test gear from where I work so I have some nice test gear for RF testing.
Way too much to list here but the ones I use most are: HP8714B 3GHz Vector Network Analyser HP8568B Spectrum analyser 1500MHz Advantest TR4172 spectrum analyser fully loaded with options including tracking gen+VNA Anritsu ML4803A power meter with various thermo heads from 100kHz to 18GHz Marconi 2019 Sig gen Marconi 2019A Sig gen Marconi 2015 Sig gen Philips PM6669 reciprocal counter 1.3GHz Tek 465 scope Tek 2012 digital scope various basic pulse generators and LF function generators Lots of DVMs and bench PSUs and some older scopes. Also I have a couple of T-Tech PCB prototyping machines here and these are useful for rapid manufacture of anything from test PCBs to front panel templates and engraving etc. |

Re: What test equipment do you own/use
All of this extravaganza takes me back to wartime school days, when with nothing available to purchase even if I had the money which I did not, my list comprised a torch bulb in a holder and a set of old high impedance headphones.
