Re: Capacitor stockists ?
I guess most forum members would use Farnell/CPC or RS. If you're buying a lot of light stuff which is cheap to ship you might also want to consider Mouser in the States, http://www.mouser.com.
Mainline Surplus used to be a useful source at one time, but they had a huge fire last year and lost all their stock eBay can be a source of bargain capacitors, but it may take some time to accumulate all the values that you need, especially if you want to wait for the real bargains. If you just want one or two of a particular value, a plea in the Parts Wanted section will often yield a freebie from a generous forum member Good luck, Paul |

Hi David,
Can I suggest you also consider David Cantelon in Canada - excellent selection, value and a very friendly chap - I would commend him to you. http://www.justradios.com Regards, Trevor. |

I have found Pete Roberts on this site very helpful for small quantities:

Re: Capacitor stockists ?
Whilst I am not a large user of caps, I often find what I need at:
Rapid Electronics - www.rapidonline.co.uk ESR Electronic Components - www.esr.co.uk Both have very reasonable shipping charges and no minimum order value. John |

Re: Capacitor stockists ?
I highly recommend the following two sources :
"Just Radios" in Canada. Dave & his wife are great folks to deal with. Dave is the only source I am aware of for the HV caps used in the early TV sets. He has a website: www.justradios.com Mark Oppat in the USA. He is incredibly knowledgable and has the ability to make up NLA controls too. Mark Oppat 253 Blanche St. Plymouth MI 48170 (734) 207-2346 Email: moppat (insert ampersand here) comcast.net Website: www.oldradioparts.net BTW Both can supply many hard to find schematics also. Both are great folks. They completely back what they sell! One of these days, when I retire, I'm going to drive back to Michigan & meet Mark. (And take in the gigantic Michigan Antique Radio Swap Meet too). Last edited by FrankB; 4th Oct 2006 at 9:33 pm. Reason: nEEDED TO CHANGE THE INFO A BIT. |
