Arrow 2018 Solihull Junk-Swap - Saturday May 12th

Hi everyone.

My apologies for the last-minute nature of this post and announcement. I've not been feeling the love regarding old TVs for a while but I seem to have snapped out of it - for a while at least - and I thought I'd get this meetup kicked off before the gloom settles again.

Anyway... If anyone fancies meeting up and swapping junk, stories, food, infectious diseases and the like in comfortable surroundings with like-minded special-needs TV-enthusiast loonies then Solihull on Saturday May the 12th 2018 is the place to be.

As usual, there will be bacon sarnies for non-vegetarians, faux-bacon sarnies for vegetarians, and all other manner of food and drink on tap throughout the day. There will be a pub visit to The Drum and Monkey at about 13:30 and food and drink in the evening too.

Lots of lively chitter-chatter and tall stories told among like minded folk, live TV-fixing on benches (and on the drive if anything like previous years), not to mention the junk-swap in the lounge.

To this end, please bring with you any bits of junk you wish to part with or sell - and take away other people's junk in return. Just dump junk in the lounge and you'll never see the stuff again. (Especially if Courtney has anything to do with it.)

If you fancy a visit (and if it's not too short notice) then please just post below and I'll make sure there is provision.

Don't forget - The NVCF is the next day just down the road at Radford Smelly.

Thanks everyone.

Kind regards.

From Mike.
PS. Mods - Would it be okay if this stayed in the TV section for a little while at least please. Thank you.

Hi all, I'm just putting this out there as this swapmeet could raise possibilities of me getting both this 1500 and spare CRT.

I don't have a driving licence but I'd like to take the opportunity of getting this 24" Thorn 1500 and spare CRT in the following thread:

https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/....php?p=1033180

I happen to be working on that weekend (as it falls on one of the every-one-in-two weekends that I work) and I can't get that weekend off.

I'd be grateful to anyone who is going to Mikey's bash who could pick this TV+spare CRT up from forum member volte-face and get it to Mikey's place. I could then either collect them from Mikey myself when I am available or I could collect them from a forum member coming from Yorkshire, as Solihull, Leeds and Wakefield are all do-able for me on the train. As I'm currently relying on public transport, however, I would need to make two trips, one to collect the TV and the other to collect the CRT, unless any member from Yorkshire is willing to travel down to Sheffield to meet me?

Many thanks for any help given
Aidan Lunn

I have also made a FCS request on the possibility that no-one going to Mikey's do would be able to get it there - the largest hurdle would be getting them both from London to Solihull:

Regrettably I won't be able to make it either as I'm put down to work nights that weekend. This is the first time in many years I haven't been able to go, with the nature of work as is I've been very fortunate over the past few years. Guess my luck has run out! This is the problem with shift work but that's life I suppose.

I'd like to thank Steve (Colourstar) for his hospitality over the years of NVCF events.

I'll do my best to get down for next May.

Thanks too to Mike of course for his hospitality and everyone else of course.

Have a great time everyone.
