Hello Everyone
Would anyone out there be able to supply me with the alignment procedure for the Philips G8 550 series TV set? A scan of a 550 series service manual would be even better. I believe my set to have been made in 1975. I am especially interested in obtaining the convergence and white balance adjustment procedure. I have just powered up my G8 which before me had not been switched on in over 8 years and have an awful picture, that is in need of total alignment. Any help would be gratefully received Mike |

Hi Mike the 550 convergence panel suffered from dried out caps due to it being strung above the power supply.
Change the 47uf and the 220uf caps on the board then set it up first with the blue gun switched off then switch the blue back on and set up the blue tilt etc. You will find that the convergence pots are numbered in order of adjustment. I have a few G8s in my collection; when they are set up they give excellent pictures! Hope this is of help. Regards, Gary. |

Hi Gary
Thanks for the advice, but im still a bit stuck, as the pots ain't numbered in my set. Should they have a card over them? I know an Ekco CT262 (Pye chassis) my parents had, did. See pics below, so you can see what I'm on about. |
