Default TV22 tube mask

Hello,
I am looking for suggestions as to how to go about cleaning up my flakey and crazed TV22 tube mask, see attached picture. Is there any suitable paint I could use after stripping the original paint off?

Terry.

I have used artists acrylic paints. It sticks to most things.

Gerry at Crowthorne told me to dip my mask in paint stripper. I thought he was joking but when I did it the mask cleaned up lovely. The rubber isn't affected at all by the acid. It looks so much better than just cleaning up the flakey paint.

For paint I used Crown 'Prominade' period paint which is a pretty good match.

Hi, I have painted the mask with some 1829 hemp beige emulsion from B&Q and once dry rubbed in bee’s wax’s to tone it down, which seems to have tinted it to the original colour, also the tiny cracks showing though the paint in the rubber make it look old but clean.

Hi, I can't remember what colour I used, I took the mask into B&Q and got the best match I could. Norman
