Dial cord spring for a Grundig Satellit 650?
Hi, during the work to restoring a satellit 650, dial cord spring broke. Unfortunately no one of my spare parts dealer in Europe for Grundig radios have one, so I ask where i can find it. Dimensions are about 2,5 mm OD and about 15 mm lenght with hooks. I have searched on two suggested sites I have find here but minimal dimensions are bigger than I need...someone can help me?
Thanks in advance, F. |

If it has broken at one of the hooks, it should be possible to bend the end turn 90° to make a new hook. I have sometimes done this when no suitable replacement was to hand.

Retractable ball-point pens are a good source of all sizes of springs.

The spring from a retractable ball-point pen would be my starting point.

Unfortunately has broken in three pieces...no way to recover it.

Re: Dial cord spring for a Grundig Satellit 650?
If you have a spring that has the right diameter size of wire, you might be able to wind your own spring, using the shaft of a twist drill as a mandrel. You would need to use a somewhat smaller drill as the wire will go back slightly. I have done this in an emergency, clamping the drill and one end of the wire together in the jaws of a vice before starting to wind.
