Yes, in a way. The "new Plessey" acquired the former Plessey Company plc Roborough wafer fab (near Plymouth).

Supposedly Sinclair used to buy their reject transistors in bulk, & Clive & family would grade them for use in his radio kits.

So who now owns the Sinclair name?
Amstrad bought the rights way back when Sinclair got into financial difficulties, but then Amstrad was sold to Sky TV .
And what about Ultra? (the consumer part) I know the company was split way long ago , and the Ultra precision engineering still exists as I work opposite the factory in Cheltenham.

Sinclair? This looks to be the relevant trademark registration:

Wharfedale, audiolab, Quad, Mission , and luxman brands.
Unbelievably the EKCO range of audio was also sold through Tesco direct at one point.

Hello,

IAG also own the Leak brand name.

I was recently chatting to the owner of an independent privately owned small/medium sized hi-fi company and we came to the conclusion independent privately owned hi-fi companies are becoming an endangered species in the UK

Terry

I found this item from 1987. Did Ultra actually get revived back then? I don't ever recall seeing any late 8s or 90s kit with their badge on.

I have a feeling we had some Ultra branded TVs for rental only when I worked for Rumbelows back in that era but ive no idea of the origin.
