An ever-lasting version of the EM34, or two. Or three.... Same again EM71A. Signal strength meters are fine as indicators but don't begin to approach the charm.

A bumper pack of all sensible values and spread of wattages of Beyschlag/Piher/whatever metal film resistors to keep everything running sweet, plus ditto spread of blue translucent sleeve axial Philips elkos.

Yep, an R390-A, but a good condition mid/late one with original components to work through each module steadily and without duress just for the before-and-after contrast (or quite possibly not much of it!). Though I fully appreciate that many may prefer to use something for real, rather than have it up-ended on the bench under surgery. As to the original carbon-comps, Sergeant Bilko's mates in the electronics maintenance depots needed something to while away the time.....

That Lightning will need a good spread of drip-trays for its fueldraulics! For a 'plane, I'll go for a Tupolev-85 and a big hanger- those amazing engines plus the only thing more fascinating than an American bomber filled with thermionics would be a Russian bomber filled with thermionics.

All I want is to continue with the improved health I now enjoy after a very substantial weight loss that has reversed or cured a couple of potentially life changing conditions.
That way I might be in with a fighting chance of enjoying getting to grips with the queue of challenges awaiting me when we finally get the house alterations finished and I get my den/workshop/hidey hole!

And for everyone else to enjoy as much health and fitness as they possibly can.
Actually that as much as anything, for us all to get the most out of life.

A.

You're right, of course- all this indulgent flights-of-fancy stuff around inanimate objects pales into irrelevance besides good health, happiness and family,

The ability to sleep in past 6AM would be very handy these days

I would also like to have just a couple more days with people I held dear to me that have passed in my lifetime,

Id ask for a working Type VII uboat and trained crew (who speak English), and endless fuel and spares.

Ditto Mitchell B25 bomber.

But...I'd settle happily for the loss of the need to wear specs and for my dog's back leg to be restored to health again.

Now we're talking!
Ah, if we’re into fantasies about aeroplanes, make mine a flight-ready Blackburn B.48 “Firecrest”…

Oh yes, without a doubt. MANY is the time I wished I could have made a simple 'click' to show my appreciation of a post without having to contrive a response. This would not stop me writing if I had something to add of meaning and interest.

Don't bring me anything but take away green house gas.
Save the planet, Santa.

Would love about 200 BSR X5H cartridges and about 200 BSR X5M cartridges - free of course - it would save time building pre-amps !!

Hope you got it sorted out in time, sometimes these things haunt you forever, mine was flunking the eleven plus, I let that failure shape part of my life but I survived ok.

A good nights sleep! It takes me 3 hours or more to get off and then I awake on a regular basis.

Stupid thing is I was fine till I moved here.

No more radio gear as I have rather enough.

The bargain-price Eico valve tester I was outbid on at Xmas Eve!

Thinking through electrical or mechanical problems sends me to sleep quite reliably, especially when there's maths involved.

Think I'd quite fancy a Baird 700, Philips G6 or a Thorn 2000. Failing that the continued good health of me and my family!

Cheers,
John Joe.

Loan of the team of magical reindeer for mid-January, please. They'll be well rested by then, and given the volume of deliveries they make on December 25th it should be a doddle for them to transport 3000-odd books and our remaining 300 or so radios etc. to Norfolk without any mishaps, even though 170 lb. radiograms may be a little outside their usual remit.

The lack of specs DID happen to me - years ago had to wear specs as a condition for driving but now age has corrected the problem so I no longer am legally required too - weird eh?
