Default 1950s/60s Rexine

Hi, I was just wondering if you can still buy 1950s and 60s rexine? I've looked online but I have had no luck finding any.

I found an old record player for sale and the rexine is ruined, its stained and ripped. The player has also been attacked by woodworm, which has been treated, so the rexine is covered in holes.

I want to know so I can make sure it is worth buying.

Do 'Woolies Trim' do anything suitable?

You will not find original Rexine as it ceased production a long time ago, and I hear the machinery when to India?
Ratchfords do something similar but you are restricted to the colours they have all ready produced, and they only deal in single colours, nothing two tone or patterned as per Dansette lids.
Some vehicle re-upholsterers do some patterned stuff but they tend to be a bit on the thick side, Vynide I think it's called, oohh and of course most players were covered in CLOTH backed rexine, Sid Chaplin still does the paper backed Rexine that was mainly used to cover late Fidelitys (HF43 HF45 ) but he now only operates two days a week for his son's business.
Hope this helps.

Gaz is quite correct. ICI stopped production of this (and the acoustically transperent Vynair) years ago. None of the currently available types quite come up to their standards for finish, flexibility and durability.

Ratchfords' rexine is excellent, and is very near the original, but the postal charges make covering a single record player an expensive project. For a metre costing £9.95, the postage is £13.80!

You could try Sid or Russell Chaplin on 01206394195 or russellchaplin@btinternet.com. They were called Retrospecialist.
They (Sid) have been supplying Rexine and other materials for many years, I got my last order of Rexine about two years ago, Sid only works part time now so better speak to Russell.
Cheers

AES have a very large range of Tolex in different colours and patterns. It could be a viable alternative to replace Rexine:
