Re: NSM Country Classic wall jukebox
Since the manufacturer still seems to exist, perhaps try asking them? They may not be helpful, but nothing to lose and you could find out whether spares/service capability is available.
There are some NSM manuals here, though whether any are relevant or the site is trustworthy I've no idea. http://nsmjukeboxmanuals.yolasite.com/manuals.php

Re: NSM Country Classic wall jukebox
This seems to be another variant on the ubiquitous 1990s CD jukebox, with two stacks of 50 discs in special carriers which get pulled out and brought down to a central playing mechanism. There are still plenty in use, so spares probably are available from somewhere.
An inability to read a disc could certainly be a laser problem. Does the fault affect all discs? Store-bought ones are usually easier to read than home-burned ones. As for testing the laser, the light from the laser is infra-red and invisible to (most?) humans; plus there are safety interlocks to prevent the laser from coming on without a disc in place anyway (since exposure could still damage your eyes, especially as it won't trigger the usual blinking or head-turning reflex). I would start off by cleaning it. Have you got the service manual for your jukebox? You'll probably have to pay for it, but it's fairly essential reading anyway.

Re: NSM Country Classic wall jukebox
Hi, my NSM country classic wall jukebox laser is working now, but only plays some CD's but not all of them. Any help please.
PS. Should I leave my jukebox on all the time? Last edited by Station X; 15th Jul 2019 at 10:03 am. Reason: Readability. |

Re: NSM Country Classic wall jukebox
"...but only plays some CD's but not all of them" That's my experience with CD's and CD players. Follow advice above about cleaning lens and getting service manual.
"Should I leave my jukebox on all the time?" No. Andy.

Re: NSM wall jukebox 2000
I'm flying blind here, but this sort of problem with any device that loses settings it's supposed to remember while unpowered usually is caused by a dead memory backup battery. There are several types; it could be a rechargeable NiMH pack, it could be a non-rechargeable Lithium cell as used on PC motherboards, or it could be a non-replaceable Lithium cell embedded inside an IC (which would be bad news). The other thing that could cause it is if the jukebox is storing its settings in an E2PROM (a kind of memory chip that can have its contents changed, but still retains them without a power supply), and a capacitor is failing. The E2PROM usually would be an 8-pin chip, close to the processor -- which will be a big chip with a crystal (in a distinctive oval metal can) next to it. Likely numbers are 93LC46 and 24LC08.
If you can post some pictures of the motherboard, I or somebody else should be able to identify what type of battery is fitted (if any), and we can proceed accordingly from there.

Re: NSM wall jukebox 2000
I believe this is NSM Music in Leeds, West Yorkshire (about ten minutes from me).
They seem to be keen on aftersales, so drop them an E-mail. From your description of the fault, have you checked the backup battery is serviceable? It may be nothing more than a dead battery. Kevin |

Re: NSM Country Classic wall jukebox
The RTC batteries are being advertised on eBay, laser refurbishment also. Buy the manual.

Re: NSM Country Classic wall jukebox
Hi Peter,
You need to update the forum with what you have already done, using the advice that has already been given. Post #2 links to manuals. Have you identified your model and downloaded the manual? Post #7 have you contacted this website? nsmjukebox.co.uk. They may be able to advise you what sort of battery RAM you need. It will probably look something like the one in the second picture here: https://jukeboxparts.co.uk/nsm/spare...per-nsm09.html |

Re: NSM Country Classic wall jukebox
I have a feeling the RTC battery is part of that yellow box component with ST on it, not sure if it’s the removable type or the one where you end up having to replace the whole thing...

Re: NSM Country Classic wall jukebox
I have seen a few of those ST NVRAM's in videos on youtube and yes the battery is removeable, unlike the Dallas ones.

Re: NSM Country Classic wall jukebox
Been a while since I've set one up but used to do those for years in the pubs and clubs.
You need to go into the menu and intialise the discs. It will go threw each cd to see how many tracks are on each cd. |
