That seems to have solved the problem, thanks.

Excellent. Useful to know if anyone else has the same problem.

We seem to be missing the Pound sign now - I've noticed this in several posts.

Or is it just at my end?

You're right.

Pound=
Dollar=$
Euro=
Yen=

The characters show when typed, but disappear when the post is saved.

I will take a look later. Part of the vBulletin update was to work around a messy issue with default character-sets being changed in some PHP functions between PHP 5.3 and PHP 5.4 (PHP developers breaking the golden rule of not making changes that break old code). I need to find out at what point they are lost and try to prevent their loss... probably not a quick job with the scale of the vBulletin code. :/

It's hardly a big deal, Paul, just something I thought I'd flag-up.

The problem seems to be with the Quick Reply and the inline editor. If you "Go Advanced" the £ sign works OK.

So it's probably an issue with the javascript/ajax code used for the quick reply and inline editing.

I have just set "Disable problematic AJAX features" in admin which seems to have fixed it. That setting is meant for non-English boards...

It has removed the inline post editing and slightly changed how Quick Reply is posted. It may have changed a few other things that I haven't noticed yet too.

Any posts with missing £ characters will need to be edited to reinstate them.

I will report it as a bug in the vBulletin forums, though I won't hold my breath for a proper fix.

EDIT: Posted here http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...n-3-8-9-beta-1

It's not something I've noticed. Has it happened since the update?

No, I've noticed it for a while, but I've always assumed it was a typo caused by people using touchscreens and/or predictive text. It's never happened to me.

All the disappearing currency codes aren't present in bog standard 7 bit ASCII so there's probably some sort of Unicode handling problem.

Is it fixed? £££ Yes it is!

All OK here too, just had to log in again (Firefox remembered it after typing the first character of my name). Much smoother than most 'upgrades', thank you Paul.

Another oddity that I've noticed, again not a big deal, but thought you might be interested:

When editing a post now, the formatting seems to disappear, resulting in one giant paragraph.

Of course, it only takes a few seconds to put the paragraphs back again, but it didn't used to be like that.

I'm using Windows XP and Windows 7 with either Chrome or Firefox.

User CP - Edit Options. Scroll down and choose Standard Editor.

Or click the slanted A icon at the top right corner of the editor, which is probably selected making it basic text editing (which is useless).

Selecting the Standard editor instead of WYSIWYG seems to have solved it.

Thanks, Paul
