Presumably those were 441-line German cameras in 1939? Do you know when the more elaborate BBC Tuning Signal (shown at the bottom) took over from the simpler one (also shown - on a strip of film)? I hadn't seen the test picture showing the 1930s couple before. Steve

Interesting to see that the Test Card C has the 4 :5 aspect ratio that the 405 system originally used.
I remember an early 1950's book on TV saying that, before watching an important programme, your set should be switched on for half an hour to stabilize before adjusting the focus. |
