Crosley Frankenradio Video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP7_JjrVnLQ
"Frankenradio", as we all know, is a term amongst collectors to identify sets that have been assembled with dissimilar parts--chassis to cabinet, speaker to chassis, etc. This was my wife's grandfather's. As a young man, he pulled a Crosley 5515 chassis from its console cabinet and assembled this one. It's made of fruit crates! I had fun making the video... Bill

Re: Crosley Frankenradio Video
The original console radio looks very bulky. If there isn't the space, then re-casing the radio chassis was an excellent idea.
If someone did the same thing today: They had a chassis from a hopelessly smashed bakelite case their skill should be applauded in keeping a serviceable radio out of the landfill. |

Re: Crosley Frankenradio Video
Interesting video, thanks for sharing.
The vid is displaying in the wrong aspect ratio (vertically stretched) on my Android tablet. |
