Default Vintage TV adverts and pictures.

Looking through some copies of 'EVERYBODY'S' magazine from the late 1940's I came across this picture of Stewart MacPherson commentating from Wembley Stadium in July 1948. Great picture of the Pye B18T monitor.

It got me thinking. There must be many hundreds of period adverts in old newspapers and magazines. I wonder how many interesting ones we can find?

I have opened a similar thread in the radio section: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=152782

Regards, John.

Was this the same Magazine as 'Everybodies enquire within' or another, or maybe a descendant. I have had a view of some issues of this magazine that I believe is slightly pre war (2). I just wish I could get my hands on them longer term to scan some of the stories that do rather date them.

And from 1958, a TP308

A little older. I like this one showing the prototype of the Alexandra Palace aerial system at EMI's Hayes Works.

Have rather a lot here.A couple of years ago, with time on my hands, I made use of the main Library here in Brum where they have many newspapers archived on microfilm. You can save the scans and upload them to dropbox etc. Some of these scans are on the website, some are waiting for me to get my finger out and stitch them together/tidy/etc (had to zoom in to get reasonable resolution but then only parts of an an could be scanned). Attached a random little selection (the originals are very much higher res).

Some quite interesting things were found. For example, TrueView advertised their sets heavily for just six weeks here in brum. Then nothing. (see post #11 in this thread). When I subsequently visited Bristol I visited their library - much more antiquated, had to take photo of microfilm projection - but there, for a few weeks only was TrueView ads. Seems they targeted areas.

TTFN,
Jon

... and a few more.

(That last newspaper page was probably 20+ scans stitched back together. The original is nearly 10,000 pixels wide!)
