Makers fault on Pilot PT36
Hello All,
Just bought this set and on hoovering it out I discovered a "makers", fault! I guess it is too late to claim on the makers gurantee They forgot the solder. I wonder if it was the tea break? Paul. |

Re: Makers fault on Pilot PT36
It looks like it's had quite a lot of use though, so I guess they are either making adequate connection or don't do anything too important.

Re: Makers fault on Pilot PT36
Now I am into changing all the cap's I can identify the two cap's with no solder to ground as C11 and C16 on the drawing which are V2 Control grid decoupling and V2 Cathode bypass (V2 being the IF amp) so quite important components? The set was full of soot so must have been in a room with a smokey fire for years!

Re: Makers fault on Pilot PT36
My parents' Hacker VHF Herald, bought new in 1971, did not work reliably after a few weeks. It went back under guarantee and was returned with no fault found. After a couple of years of cutting out, it was consigned to the loft
When I got hold of it about 15 years later, I soon found that TWO contacts in the VHF tuner head had never been soldered I attended to this and the set's been in daily use ever since |
