Decca Deccalian Mk4 Smoothing Cap
I need to replace the smoothing cap on my Decca Deccalian Mk4 Extension Speaker. It's a 32uf 32uf (Voltage numbers rubbed). This cap has 4 tags and the only modern examples I can Find are 32uf 32uf 500v but only 3 tags?. Can these be used to replace...Thanks

Re: Decca Deccalain Mk4 Smoothing Cap
You can use a 3-terminal can capacitor as a replacement if and only if the two negatives are joined together (they ought to be joined together anyway, but may not if a voltage-doubling rectifier is used). Otherwise you probably will need two separate capacitors. 500V will be fine for a record player.

Re: Decca Deccalian Mk4 Smoothing Cap
Both negatives are connected to the chassis, this is a conventional circuit: http://www.service-data.com/section....deccalian-mk-4, so a standard 3 terminal can will be OK. The highest voltage quoted on the circuit diagram is 300V, so anything higher should be OK.
