Default 2013 Newbury Radio Rally, Sunday June 16th

The Newbury Rally is next Sunday - see here for details:

http://www.nadars.org.uk/rally.asp
(although none of the i-phone style link buttons work)

It's very easy to get to and usually has a good selection of vintage junk on sale.

I expect to have a stall there, if the weather looks OK.

They work OK for me (Firefox and Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7). They use Javascript so may not work on older browsers or if Javascript is disabled on your computer.

I plan to do a quick drive-by of the Newbury rally on my way to somewhere else in the locality.

Am hoping to acquire some replacement cordage for my Clansman handset, and maybe a curly-leaded pressel-switch to go with it. 3 or 4 Eddystone-type flexible insulated spindle-couplers and a big glass/ceramic feed-through insulator for my current HF-ATU project would be a nice score too.

I will be along at around 10AM

Keep an eye open for a woman in a pink fleece trying to keep warm.

I did indeed make it to the Newbury show - arrived around 10AM but left as the rain started and most people began packing up!

There were a few interesting things - a 19-set or three, couple of HROs/R1155s, a BC348 and some Command-receivers and the odd PCR as well as a 62-set which someone wanted £200 for!

I managed to get a brand-new-and-unissued Clansman handset for £3 (these cost over £250 to the UK taxpayer back in 1995, according to the label on the bag..) and a few insulated spindlec-ouplers for my ATU project which I finished yesterday evening.

Also managed to score a rather nice and beefy Redifon military ATU with a roller-coaster and turns-counter dial, a big wide-spaced tuning capacitor, RF voltmeter and various big ceramic rotary-switches. Unfortunately the detents/stops of the switches were made of some sort of "monkey-metal" which has gone crystalline and broken up so there's nothing to tell you where the switch positions are.
