Default Anyone selling a Ferrograph?

Another nostalgia trip, replacing a few things I sold years ago and regretted ever since!

I am looking for, preferably a Series 6, but would settle for a 5 or 4.
Not too bothered if mono, but stereo would be nice.

Would like a decent cabinet if possible, and complete, but not bothered if deck and/or preamp panel need respraying.

Don't care if it doesn't work, but would be good if mains and output transformers are OK.

Probably a tall order - we'll see.

Thanks, Colin - keep 'em coming in, though, all - I will not finally decide until a few more (hopefully) appear.

There's one or two on an eBay currently, including one with an all metal casing.

Thanks, Derek. I've not seen this variety before. I have had a search sitting on ebay for a while now; decided that there are enough of them still about to settle on a stereo Series 6; they all seem to go for £50-60.

If I find one that needs a respray or has faults, even better. I think it will have to wait now until after the holiday - too many balls in air!

Mono Ferrograph's have been fetching quite high prices on eBay recently (up to £100 or more). One of the main reasons seems to be that there are one or more eBay users willing to buy them at these prices, then strip them down and sell parts like valves and transformers at a profit (for some reason seemingly under alternative user names).

I've often seen the output transformers listed as being by Partridge - incorrectly, as Ferrograph made their own - and sold in pairs for single-ended amp projects. The fact that, despite their high quality, they're not a suitable match for modern speakers doesn't stop them reaching over £150 a pair, and numerous sets have gone like this!

An unfortunate end to a lot of good decks, including some I've noticed sold by people declaring they want them to 'go to a good home'!

They seem to be going at about £50-£55 at the moment on eBay, but curiously an earlier one went the other day for £7!

I am now sorted, thanks to Tim

Moderators, thread can be closed, thanks.
