Default GMT Error

I thought I saw something about the GMT error sometime ago but can't find it or I was mistaken.

I have (in my settings) set the time zone to +9h 30 min for my region but the board continually reports it as +9h.

An interesting one for Paul, I have tried a couple of half hour and 45 min offsets in the selection and they ignore the offset.

At a guess, the forum software doesn't report the half hour. Australia is quite unusual in having time zones which aren't UTC/GMT +- an exact number of hours, though as Frank suggests, it's not alone in this.

Is the forum translating post times correctly? I see this post as timed at 2:04pm BST (GMT+1).

If I set GMT plus 9h 30m, I get times (including those of posts) 10 hours ahead of GMT - which may, of course, be GMT plus 9h plus DST, as I didn't unset automatic DST. It appears, therefore that the forum software isn't implementing the part-hour offsets offered in the menu, as Frank says.

I don't think it is translating post times correctly, but will check as soon as I post this and edit it.

Terry

EDIT - No, not translating post times correctly, is 30 mins behind actual (mine) posting time.

The vBulletin version we use here is old and only gets security and compatibility updates from the publishers now. This does sound like a software bug but I doubt it will ever get fixed, unfortunately.

The forum software works really well, appreciate there will be an odd anomaly but it's easy to use and reliable.

Indeed, which is why I have no plans to "upgrade" to the newer v4 or v5 versions which are worse in my opinion.

Thanks for the clarification Paul.

I was just a little concerned the problem may have been at my end (and I agree with everybodies comment of sticking with the current version).

This thread can be closed now thankyou Mods.
