Diode Identity
I have a bag of diodes I'm trying to identify, if anyone can help, please.
Not a lot to go on, and Google hasn't helped. They are the all-metal 'top hat' style with a wire out of either end face. Markings are 126T (or it could be 12GT), 64, 37 and YC, plus a diode symbol. No manufacturer's logo. Many thanks, Andy |

Re: Diode Identity
So 4 lines of text on each diode? Could you maybe post a picture as the font and arrangement can be clues as to the manufacturer?

Re: Diode Identity
I'll try tomorrow, how successful I'll be I don't know!

Re: Diode Identity
Silicon, Germanium, Schottky?
You could characterise them (at any rate for rectifier use) by measuring the reverse breakdown voltage (high value resistor to limit dissipation and look for voltage flattenning off across diode as applied voltage continues to increaser) and carefully measuring temp rise with increasing amounts of forward dc current.

Re: Diode Identity
Apologies, I haven't had a chance to take a photo yet.
