Back in the 1970s I remember one of the Scottish football results was East Fife 4 Forfar 5. Whether this was made up or true I don't know but found it quite funny at the time.

Regards
Symon.

To be pedantic, I think it was a 7pm BST/CET start.
I seem to recall that in the later '50s Luxembourg's Englsh service started at 7pm with an orchestral piece called The Luxembourg Waltz.
The programmes were very popular with the lads in our (National Service) barrack-room. Yes, when it came to entertainment, we were pretty desperate! Tony

I think there is a bit of confusion over the start times of 208's English service because of the 1 hour time difference between the U.K. and Europe. My memory after 60 years may be a bit hazy, but I'm sure they started at 6PM GMT during the winter months ant 7PM BST during the summer months. This could be because UK reception was better during darkness.

I always remember the program on before 208 started its English output in the evening was called "Qui italia" - a news program (in Italian of course) which had a strange echoey-trumpet signature-tune.

See http://letransistor.unblog.fr/2013/0...t-que-le-soir/ for a recording of this!

Never 7am though - that was my piece of pedantry.
