Re: Hedgehog MK2 405 Line Converter
Hi.
As one of the original testers of the MK1 I can confirm that they are brilliant. I now have a Hedghog Dual and PSC. Both are not only excellent but also extremely good value. So Bob you've bought furniture before the house?

Re: Hedgehog MK2 405 Line Converter
Here’s a little spoiler!! This was the first test of mine once I’d finally finished building them, you can see them both lying naked on the bench!

Re: Hedgehog MK2 405 Line Converter
Ah, the Hedghog 1, those were the days when half the work was already done with a plug in FPGA board.

Re: Hedgehog MK2 405 Line Converter
Been to Davids shop today and tried the converter what a good piece of kit and David has kindly donated to me an Ultra V17-53 in perfect working order with a excellent bright CRT David originally was using the set to see if a black clamp would work at high video levels at the CRT cathodes .Perhaps David could explain about it here is a picture of the test card of the Hedgehog converter on the Ultra V17-53 kind regards Bob

Re: Hedgehog MK2 405 Line Converter
Hi Bob,
I'm delighted you are pleased with the Ultra"53" TV set. The set was featured in a topic about incorporating a black level clamp circuit in a basic TV set. Eventually, it was found in order to do the job properly, the video DC restoration modification required another valve, a 6/30L2 double triode. The Hedghog converter is an excellent device. My Mark 1 converter has been in constant operation for more than two years now. It has never been switched off! One can watch 405 on the largest possible set, be it 23 or 24" CRT receiver or a 4 X 3 foot screen projection set. Compare the converted images with similar size 625 receiver, and, apart from the more evident line structure, there no loss of picture detail. Broadcast quality I'd say. DFWB. |
