Default Test Card Memory Lane?

Hi!

Just a quickie one!

Anybody know what's happened to "Test Card Memory Lane?"

This site, as well as the more usually seen test cards, described all the various other patterns sometimes seen during closedown periods, VITS, pulse-test, crosshatches, ramps, greyscale bars, etc.

Was that site the only reference to those unusual patterns and signals, etc., or is the information elsewhere to be had?

When I left school, back in the mists of time, a friend went to work at the BBC. I once visited, and one of the few memories is of a rotating globe caption generator. Actually a rotating globe with a camera pointed at it. It was small and a bit tatty, quite unlike the broadcast image. Memory is an unreliable master, but that image remains with me.

This the prototype (apparently).
