Q405 control box and amp. Value?

Your best guide is to check eBay 'Sold listings'. The power amp is the Quad 405, which is slightly less desirable than the 405-2, but still a decent unit. The control unit is the Quad 44. It may well be worth more than the 405.

I had a Quad 44 It was subject to numerous failures in the channel selection logic circuits.

It's only fair to point out that such problems are not common. My 44 hasn't missed a beat in nearly forty years.

There's a report of that here https://www.radiomuseum.co.uk/quad44.html. I don't think every Quad 44 suffers from it.
