Bakelite mouthpiece swan-neck desk/wall microphones
Not sure if the above is the correct description or if they are in the correct section really as they could be telephony, PA or for radio use as they came from a Fire Service related source.
Any further information gratefully received. |

Re: Bakelite mouthpiece swan-neck desk/wall microphones
Hello,
The bakelite microphone/mouthpiece appears to be a GPO Transmitter Type 22 as was used on some later candlestick (and some other) telephones. Scroll down on this page http://www.britishtelephones.com/t150.htm Yours, Richard |

Yes that makes sense, thanks.
Would the mount be called a swan neck? And anyone know where these would have been used? |

Might they have been used for intercoms from driver to passenger, or from the fire engine up to the top of a ladder?
Carbon transmitter has the advantage no expensive and fragile valve amplifier would be needed. |

That's possible but I was leaning more towards a control room or radio use. Happy to stand corrected though!
