Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
Just wondered does the back plate undo where the speaker sockets are or is there nuts at the back , if it comes off you could get to the rear clip. Mick.

Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
Hi Martin,
If you need to and you do the deck out, please let us know how you managed it. With either one of the suggestions we have made or something completely different. It's good information for the forum. Frank |

Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
It's covered in the 1974-5 R&TVS book, if anyone's got one to hand.

Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
Quick update... I had a go at it earlier and still the same. It's as though the tone arm is spring loaded to only go half way across. I didn't even try to take the deck out tonight.
I've got the service data on the way and will try again soon. Someone asks if the back plate would come off. Well, probably but unscrewing it will mean it drops inside. Anyway, I don't think I've learnt much tonight to inspire further debate. Let me look at the service info and have another go.

Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
It is the same fault I described in post14, you will need to look under the deck and figure out where the arm meets up with the mechanism that initiates the arm rejecting and lifting. There is a part of a lever in a bush bearing that gets seized up and can't rotate. The symptoms are just as you described. The part in the bush needs freeing up and lubricating, it is just dried up grease causing it, even switch cleaner might free it up. The record player can't have been used for quite a while. The only other cause is if some of the wiring underneath has got caught up in the mechanism.

Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
Thanks Geoff, when I have enough time I will try to get the deck out. I don't think it has been used for a while, the person who asked me to have a look got it off someone for £15 the other week so I expect it's been in a loft for a long time.

Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
You can read the deck removal instructions in eBay item 122002864192 - it's a finished eBay item listing for the service manual, but the second photo shows the exact procedure (just type the item number into eBay and search, view the original listing, and select the 2nd. photo - zoom, and it's all there).

Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
Thanks Alan. I'd had a go at that but not had any success (finding an ebay listing). You've clearly got the magic touch!
I now have a scan of the service info so will be working on the deck again soon. Apologies in advance if I come up with more questions than answers

Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
We are happy to help with any further queries. Rest assured the whole deck was designed to come out relatively easily. Just be careful not to over-stretch the cables connected to it when you lift it out.

Re: Bush SRP59. Deck removal.
Just a quick one to say that I managed to get the deck out last night.
While I have not fixed the problem I have been able to see what's happening. I need to do a bit of research before I ask for help on here again as I want to make some attempt to see if it's something obvious causing the arms to stick (as I say, I can now see where it's sticking underneath). Anyway, my initial question is answered thanks to you wonderful people!
