Re: Does anyone else remember these?
How I could have done with a printed card telling me what might be wrong.
Often the customer would tell you "its the picture valve". Not wishing to loose my job, I didn't dare ask "which one"!! Chris nee Simpsons |

Re: Does anyone else remember these?
I used to look after all the TVs at several Manchester hotels, and all the domestic stuff at Granada Studios.
It was a bit of a skive to be honest, with not much to do. The work was considered as a separate depot, so I had to punch my own batch header card, and most of the job cards were fictitious, to justify my existence. Graham G3ZVT |

Re: Does anyone else remember these?
I am sure we used a similar thing at ready-bodge err Rediffusion. There were holes all around the outside edges and one simply used diagonal cutting pliers to open the appropriate hole to the outside world. At headquarters they would knock up a batch of cards and insert a rod into each hole, one at a time. The cards that had been clipped would fall away from the rod so that for instance, all the frame faults could be extracted from the whole.

We thought nothing of it until he called us over to a set with a bit of card board over the screen. The tube had been smashed and all the glass bits had been cleared up except a bit of the neck in the scan coil. |
