Kenwood KX-W4050
I'm out of my depth with this one so would welcome some advice. It's a dual deck with auto-reverse on each deck. Solenoids appear to be oerating but no drive to either side. As it's not been used for a while I now have a tape jammed in one side unable to eject.
I've managed to obtain a service manual but deck mechanics are beyond me. can anyone advise where to start or shall I just look for a competent repairer? Many thanks.

Chances are that the belts need to be replaced. If left along time they will turn into goo!

Re: Kenwood KX-W4050
This is a relatively late cassette deck - the use of Kenwood rather than Trio branding for the UK market is a giveaway. The mechs are almost completely plastic and don't age well.
As others have said, the belts are the first place to look, but there may be other problems too. |
