Default AVO Meter - TYPE X

At one of our local Auctions I acquired an AVO meter at very low cost as it came as part of a larger Lot.

What we have appears to be a PANCLIMATIC TYPE X that we know is " ... a version of the Model 8 which was introduced in the early 1960s. Electrically and mechanically the same as the model 8 it was a tropicalised version incorporating encapsulated components and using materials resistant to mould growth."

http://www.richardsradios.co.uk/avometersdata.html

The identification plate shows: -

AVO Ltd. Dover,
ENGLAND
SERIAL No.
42504 8X 4/4/71

There is also some faint embossing on the front case which I think shows: -

ENG.SERVICES
PROJECT.CONST

That's my best guess looking at the embossing with the light at an oblique angle - does anyone recognise this?

So a few questions: -

1. As the AVO is from 1971 I'm hoping there won't be much wrong with it - anything I need to check?

2. There are no batteries and I am assuming it will take the usual U2 cell (size D) for the 1.5V but unsure if this Model needs the B121 or the later B154 for the 15V?

3. On the back plate, one of the small rubber plugs is missing which means it won't lie perfectly flat - are replacements available?

4. On the front one of the black terminal screws is cracked - can this be replaced?

All very interesting (to me! ) so any and all feedback is welcomed.

That's a panclimatic Model 8 Mark 4

1. You'll never know until you try. Check all ranges and see, though start with small voltage/current.

2. Yes D cell and for the 15v position either 121 or 154 will fit.

3. You can try and find from CPC or eBay some rubber feet, you may need to replace all four to get a flat fit.

4. The black caps can be replaced, if you can find a donor unit.

Looks like this has prompted a series of Posts regarding various models of AVO Meter!

Hopefully some additional information to the helpful responses provided by Sinewave and Aitor Eneko may be forthcoming on the embossing and my questions?

Thanks to Sinewave but I don't have access to a donor unit.

Thanks to Aitor but I don't have access to a 3D printer.

I'm probably better Posting in the Wanted section for replacement rubber feet and a black cap to match the original.
